About this report

This report shows the total numbers of patients treated at emergency departments by urgency category. The report excludes those who left at their own risk without treatment, those who left after clinical advice, or those who were deceased on arrival.

Understanding emergency department

A dedicated area in a hospital that is organised and administered to provide emergency care.  All patients attending emergency departments are 'triaged' or assessed for urgency.  The first priority is to treat the most urgent patients.
