Compare all hospitals: Emergency department Category 2 patients treated within 10 mins

About this report

This report shows the number of patients in triage Category 2 treated within 10 minutes as a percentage of the total number of triage Category 2 patients treated (excluding those who left at their own risk without treatment, those who left after clinical advice regarding treatment options and those who were dead on arrival).  This report is for all Victorian public hospitals with an emergency department.

Understanding triage

All patients attending emergency departments are ‘triaged’ or assessed for urgency. The first priority is to treat the most urgent patients. There are five triage categories that have been established by the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine. These categories indicate the desirable time within which patients should be treated.

Target

As part of Statewide and/or National agreements, targets have been set for some key performance indicators. These annual targets are shown to enable comparative achievements to be illustrated.
