Understanding neonatal intensive care units (NICU's) & special care nurseries (SCN's)

Critical care services provide the expertise and equipment for treating newborns with life threatening or potentially life threatening conditions. A special care nursery provides specialised care and observation for babies no longer requiring intensive care facilities, who are not ready to go home.

Note:

Data for FY 2018-19 are preliminary and will be finalised in November 2019.
