Understanding treatment times

The median 'total waiting time' for all patients (category 1–5) treated in an emergency department during the reporting period. Total waiting time is the difference between the time that the patient presented to the emergency department to the time they were seen by a nurse or doctor (whichever was first). The median waiting time is the time within which half of the patients are treated.
