About this report

This report shows the median total waiting time for treatment in an emergency department for traige Category 1, 2 & 3 patients (most urgent).  Totals are for all Victorian public hospitals with an emergency departmentand are calculated in minutes.

Notes: 

  • Statewide excludes Albury Hospital.

Understanding treatment times

The median 'total waiting time' for the most urgent patients (Category 1–3) treated in an emergency department during the reporting period. Total waiting time is the difference between the time that the patient presented to the emergency department to the time they were seen by a nurse or doctor (whichever was first). The median waiting time is the time within which half of the patients are treated.
