About this report

This report shows the proportion of all elective surgery patients (Categories 1,2,3) admitted for elective surgery during the reporting period whose total waiting time exceeded 365 days.

Total waiting time is the difference between the date that the patient was listed for the procedure to the date they were admitted to hospital for the awaited procedure (excluding Not Ready For Surgery Days).

Understanding elective surgery

Elective surgery is surgery that, in the opinion of the treating clinician, is necessary and admission for which can be delayed for at least twenty-four hours.
