This report shows the percentage of emergency patients with a length of stay of less than 4 hours. All emergency triage categories are included and patients who were dead on arrival. The report excludes patients whose departure was to a GP co-located clinic.
Totals are for all Victorian public hospitals with an emergency department.
The length of stay is the interval between the patients arrival and their departure from the ED. Patients presenting to a public hospital emergency department to are to either physically leave the emergency department for admission to hospital, be referred to another hospital for treatment, or be discharged within the target of four hours. This performance measure is identical to the National Emergency Access Target (NEAT), implemented in response to the National Partnership Agreement on Improving Public Hospital Services.
