About this report

There are three hand hygiene audit periods per year: 

- 1 July to 31 October 

- 1 November to 31 March 

- 1 April to 30 June 

Data are reported to Hand Hygience Australia.

Notes:

Hand Hygiene compliance is not applicable for  Quarter 1. 

Understanding hand hygiene compliance

The hand hygiene program aims to improve compliance with the best practice hand hygiene processes so that healthcare-associated infections are reduced. The indicator measures the percentage of hand hygiene compliance achieved. This percentage represents compliance with the '5 moments' for hand hygiene methodology.

Target

As part of Statewide and/or National agreements, targets have been set for some key performance indicators. These annual targets are shown to enable comparative achievements to be illustrated.
