About this report

Proportion of patients admitted for elective surgery during the reporting period whose waiting time was within the clinically recommended time, according to the patient's urgency category.  Patients who are 'not ready for surgery' and those waiting for a non-surgical procedure are excluded.

Understanding elective surgery

Elective surgery is surgery that, in the opinion of the treating clinician, is necessary and admission for which can be delayed for at least twenty-four hours.

Target

As part of Statewide and/or National agreements, targets have been set for some key performance indicators. These annual targets are shown to enable comparative achievements to be illustrated.
